4th Ocober (Sunday) We finish our "summer walk and talk" on Krestovsky and move indoors for "sit and drink (upps, sorry - for sit and SPEAK:)) in a cafe "Green room" on the territory of the culturall centre "Loft project Etagi" in Ligovsky 74 (nearest metro station is "Ligovsky pr.") We could meet at the metro station "Ligovsky prospect" at 7 p.m. and go there together Participation fee is 50 rub plus you buy smth in a cafe We are offered a Debating course in Finland on 17th-18th October. Please read below Here I'm representing you the preliminary programme of our trip to Helsinki on 17th - 18th October (you can read more detailed information on www.encc.ru) We are offered a Debating course in Helsinki by the Finnish-British Society. Please read their offer: FINNBRIT is happy to offer you a Debating course on 17th and 18th of October in Helsinki at FINNBRIT premises. Our debating specialist teacher Roger Munn will be your teacher. Saturday 17.10 at 14.00-17.00 and Sunday 18.10 at 9.30-15.15, 8 hours all together A preliminary course outline: 1. What is debating? 2. Some principles/rules of debating -- structure and language: presenting, operating in dialogues, listening and replying/challenging etc. 3. Some guided practice (the language of presenting proposals, persuading, questioning etc.) 4. A look at a video of a debate 5. Activities for the students -- to develop the skills of debating 6. Question & answers seccion 7. Lastly I'd like to give the group an article or two to read in advance of the course in order to focus the training. We have planed the course for 6 people (can take few more if needed). Our special offer for your group over the weekend is 960 Euro + alv e.g. 160 Euro / person = 30 Euro / hour

"Stand up, speak up, shut up: the art of debating"
Mark Twain once observed that there are only two types of speakers in
the world: 1. the nervous and 2. liars. If this rings true for people
giving speeches in their native language, spare a thought for those
doing it in a foreign language...
Why do they do it? The obvious reason is that debate is an effective
way to develop people's oral skills. The ability to stand up in front
of the audience and express the viewpoint with clarity and confidence
is a useful skill to have. The need to listen carefully to what the
others are saying in order to respond to their points is another vital
element to successful debate. Learning how to cooperate effectively
with your team-mate in delivering your message and responding to
questions is also essential... So mu suggestionj is to make the trip as the following: We leave St.Petersburg at 7 p.m. on 17th October (Saturday) and drive directly to Helsinki. At about 1 p.m. we should be there. We will have lunch (them who need)
and by 2 p.m. will be at the FINNBRIT office After the class we check-in at the hotel and have free time to rest, walk around the city. We could also go to the pub there for a drink and chat in the evening Afterwards we have an overnight at the hotel On 18th Ocotner there is the workshop at 9.30 - 15.15. After the workshop we will have free time until 6 p.m. THen we leave for St.Petersburg and will be back in Russia late in the evening To make the trip real we need a group of 6 people The preliminary price for group of 6 is 300 Euro per person. For club
members - 285 Euro THe price includes: A minibus at our disposal for 2 days Overnight at the hotel in the centre of Helsinki Debating course on 17th and 18th of October YOu pay additionaly for: Visa (you make it yourself it you need it) Meals (which you can actually take with you as there is microwave oven, cattle and fridge in every room at the hotel) THe deadline is 10th Ocotber, which means that by this day I must have the money to book the hotel and to pay for the course Please register by encc.ru@gmail.com or by phone 8 904 644 5550 Unfortunately we don't have much time, so please be active and let me know about you decision asap.
